How to cancel iCloud+
Cancel in Settings. If your data is larger than the free 5 GB, iCloud stops syncing.
First: cancel wherever you are billed. If Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon or a phone/TV provider bills you, cancelling on the company's own site will not stop the charges.
Steps
- iPhone or iPad (iOS or iPadOS 18.4 and later): open Settings and tap your name. Tap Subscriptions, tap iCloud+ under Active, then tap Cancel Subscription. To pick a smaller plan instead, tap See All Plans.
- Mac (macOS Tahoe 26 or later): choose Apple menu, then System Settings, then Apple Account, then iCloud. Click Manage Plan under iCloud+ Features, then Cancel Subscription.
- Windows: open iCloud for Windows, click Manage, then Change Storage Plan, then Downgrade Options. Enter your Apple Account password and click Manage. To cancel, choose the free 5 GB plan and click Done.
- Older versions of iOS and macOS use Manage Plan or Manage Account Storage with Downgrade Options. Apple's page lists the exact path for each version.
Good to know
- Apple says to download or remove content that exceeds the new plan's storage first. If your iCloud data is larger than the new plan, iCloud stops syncing and updating your information, and backups will not complete.
- Downgrading to the free plan removes iCloud+ features such as Hide My Email, Private Relay, Apple Invites and HomeKit Secure Video support.
- The change takes effect after your current subscription billing period ends.
- Pay for both Apple One and iCloud+? You can downgrade iCloud+ and use the iCloud+ plan included in Apple One, which may involve extra steps.
Refunds and fees
Apple says partial refunds are available where required by law. If you recently changed your plan, contact Apple within 14 days to request one.
