How to cancel Amazon Prime
Expect a few 'are you sure?' screens. Keep going until you see an end date.
First: cancel wherever you are billed. If Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon or a phone/TV provider bills you, cancelling on the company's own site will not stop the charges.
Steps
- Sign in to Amazon and open Your Prime Membership (amazon.com/mc).
- Open Manage Membership, then Update, cancel and more.
- Select End membership.
- Continue through the pause, remind-me-later and keep-benefits offers until you reach the final confirmation.
- Look for the banner or email showing the date your membership ends.
Good to know
- The same steps cancel a free trial before it converts to a paid membership.
- Memberships tied to Prime, such as Amazon Channels, do not renew when Prime ends.
- Signed up through the Android shopping app? Manage the subscription through Google subscriptions. Signed up through another company? Contact them.
- Students on the six-month trial: if you cancel and later rejoin, you may lose the trial and only be offered the discounted paid rate.
Refunds and fees
Per Amazon's help page: paid members who have not used any Prime benefit are eligible for a full refund. Members who only used Prime delivery may get a partial refund. If Prime Video, Music or Gaming were used, no refund.
