How to cancel Notion
Notion has no separate cancel button. You downgrade to the Free plan under Billing.
First: cancel wherever you are billed. If Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon or a phone/TV provider bills you, cancelling on the company's own site will not stop the charges.
Steps
- In the sidebar, click Settings, then Billing, then Change plan.
- Select the Free plan and click Continue.
- Give feedback, then click Downgrade.
- You will get a confirmation and can see when your current plan ends.
Good to know
- Notion's page lists what changes on Free, and says the list is not exhaustive. Examples: version history drops to 7 days, file uploads are limited to 5 MB each, and a workspace with two or more people is limited to 1,000 blocks.
- Existing automations keep working but become view-only, and custom agents are switched off rather than deleted.
- Guests are limited to 10, and SAML SSO, the SCIM API and the audit log are no longer available.
- Notion's page also covers settings that reset or cannot be reversed, such as converting a private teamspace to public. Read it before downgrading a team workspace.
Refunds and fees
Notion's downgrade page does not mention refunds. It points to its billing help pages and support.
